Teen Yoga

Mondays, May 21 and June 4



Teen Yoga has returned! Valerie Vendrame will continue our popular program through the spring. Aside from the benefits of stretching and strengthening muscles, yoga provides teens with healthy coping strategies to help deal with unique stressors: insecurity about changing bodies, pressure to fit in, and challenging emotions. All done in a supportive environment that will keep you smiling and having fun!

Teen Story Time

Thursday, May 24 @ 6:00



Embrace your inner 5-year-old at teen story time! Listen to a story, and then help out the children’s librarians by preparing crafts for upcoming story times. This program is for teens in grades 6-12 and is worth one hour of community service. A small snack will be provided.

A Year of Star Wars

Wednesday, June 13 @ 6:00



We are continuing our year long Star Wars celebration at VCL! Throughout the year will talk about a different Star Wars books and watch an episode of The Clone Wars show, and watch the original trilogy.

UPDATE: Due to a snow day in March, we will watch Episode IV in June. Episode V will be shown in September, and we will watch Episode VI at our party in December.

June 13 at 6:00: Relax and unwind before your finals, and watch Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. There will be trivia and prizes after the movie!

Summer Reading Program

How it Works



You will receive a reading log when you sign up for Summer Reading. The first time you bring your log to the library, you will get a Chipotle coupon!

-Keep track of the books, magazines, newspapers, and whatever else you read, and how long it takes you to read them.
-For every two hours you read you will receive one scratch off ticket.
-For every book you review you will receive one scratch off ticket.
-Every scratch off ticket is either an instant winner, or an entry for one of our grand prizes:

$50 Amazon Gift Card
Bag of Awesome Books
Mystery Box

Instant winner prizes include:
candy, books, gum, the box of randomness, and movie tickets

Prize drawings will be held on the last day of the Summer Reading Program (SRP), Saturday, August 18. Nyack School District students in need of extra credit MUST sign up for the SRP by then.
Nyack School District note taking forms are due to the library by Saturday, September 1.

Battle of the Books

Fridays at 3:00



Join our library's Battle of the Books team!

Battle of the Books (BOTB) is an RCLS wide competition. Teens form libraries in Rockland, Orange, and Sullivan Counties compete in this trivia competition. All participants read the same 8 books, and then answer trivia questions on those books. The Battle will take place in September. To prepare, we will have weekly meetings where we discuss the books and practice answering trivia questions.
